     Romita Ray is associate professor of art history at Syracuse University.  She works on the art and architecture of the British Empire in India and is the author of Under the Banyan Tree: Relocating the Picturesque in British India (2013). Romita has published several other articles and book chapters, including two essays about Elihu Yale that appeared in the 2012 issue of the Yale University Art Gallery Bulletin. She is currently working on a book manuscript on the visual cultures of tea consumption in British colonial India and contemporary India.
