The Greek Slave was acquired by Michael Harvard of London, a dealer whose company was Harvard Works of Art (according to the Getty Research Institute’s provenance database). In 1961, Harvard lent the statue to the Grolier Club, New York, for an exhibition. At some point Harvard brought in the New York dealer Knoedler & Co. to share ownership of the statue.
