Prince Demidoff moved The Greek Slave to his home near Florence, apparently into a room all by itself. Here it was seen only by the select circle that came for entertainments and social events. Unlike the other versions, Demidoff’s Greek Slave was never circulated in exhibitions during his lifetime.  (See Helen A. Cooper's essay.)
