Exhibited and auctioned at the Merchants’ Exchange, New York, 1857

In May 1857, the auctioneer H. H. Leeds announced that it was selling The Greek Slave for Mrs. Kate Gillespie. Prior to the sale, the statue was exhibited for one week in the rotunda of the Merchants’ Exchange in New York.
