Upon its acquisition of James Robb’s Greek Slave, the Western Art Union transported the statue from New Orleans to Cincinnati and displayed it at its gallery at Fourth and Sycamore Streets. The exhibition was widely advertised in anticipation of the Union’s prize-draw, which would give its members a chance to win the statue.
