Third version, acquired by the Cosmopolitan Art Association, New York, 1857

Soon after winning The Greek Slave at the Cosmopolitan Art Association prize-draw, Kate Gillespie engaged H. H. Leeds of New York to sell the statue by auction. The Cosmopolitan Art Association repurchased the statue for $6,000.
