In 1857, Lord Ward contributed several works to the Manchester Art Treasures exhibition. His Italian pictures (Raphael, Crivelli, Guercino), attracted the most attention, but he also lent a number of sculptures, including Powers’s Greek Slave, works by Lawrence Macdonald, and Canova’s Venus and Dying Magdalene
