Third version, exhibited at the State House, New Orleans, 1849

After James Robb laid claim to the second version of The Greek Slave and displayed it in New Orleans, Miner K. Kellogg brought the third version to the city and set it up in the State House on Canal Street, where it stood on a rotating pedestal in the Hall of the House of Representatives. Newspaper articles commented on the unique opportunity of comparing the two versions. Richard P. Wunder gives the exhibition dates as February 21 to May 1, 1849.[1]
