Third version, acquired in New York by the Cosmopolitan Art Association, 1854

In 1854 The Greek Slave was purchased for $5,000 by the Cosmopolitan Art Association, which had offices in Sandusky, Ohio, as well as in New York. The purchase was made by Chauncey L. Derby, the actuary of the Association. The statue was moved to the Association’s gallery in Sandusky soon after the purchase. (See Martina Droth’s essay.)
