According to records held by the Yale University Art Gallery, The Greek Slave was sold to Claude de Bernales (1876–1963), an Australian mining tycoon who permanently moved to London in 1935. The statue was most likely kept at his home in Alton Lodge, Roehampton. It is not known when he acquired The Greek Slave
