Bryan Wolf is the Jones Professor Emeritus in American Art and Culture at Stanford University.  He has published books on American Romantic art and culture as well as seventeenth-century Dutch art and the painter Johannes Vermeer.  He is currently completing a book—tentatively titled Hidden Histories—that focuses on painter Philip Guston and sculptor Martin Puryear.
